Are you a current or aspiring occupational therapy student looking for tips on how to navigate through OT school successfully? As a current entry-level Occupational Therapy Doctoral student at USC, I have compiled a list of top tips to help you survive and thrive during your time in OT school.

Stay Organized: With the demanding coursework and fieldwork requirements in OT school, it is crucial to stay organized. Use a planner or digital calendar to keep track of assignments, exams, and fieldwork placements. Setting reminders and prioritizing tasks will help you stay on top of your responsibilities.
I have a Assignment Tracker Template for you guys here!
Develop Time Management Skills: Time management is key to balancing the rigorous demands of OT school. Create a study schedule that allows you to allocate time for coursework, studying, and self-care. Be realistic about your time and avoid procrastination to prevent last-minute stress.
I recommend either a Google Calendar, iCalendar, or Notion where you can add/delete schedule easily! Below is my sample calendar :)

Google Calendar Seek Support: Don't be afraid to lean on your classmates, professors, and mentors (me hehe) for support. Join study groups, utilize office hours, and seek guidance from experienced OT professionals. Building a strong support system can help you navigate challenges and stay motivated throughout your OT school journey.
I'll be soon opening a random study-together zoom session where we just gather and study/work individually :)
Practice Self-Care: As future occupational therapists, it's important to prioritize self-care to maintain your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Incorporate activities that help you relax and recharge, such as exercise, meditation, hobbies, or spending time with loved ones. Taking care of yourself will ultimately enhance your ability to care for others.
Stay Curious and Engaged: OT school is a time for exploration and growth. Stay curious about the various aspects of occupational therapy, engage in discussions with classmates and professors, and seek out opportunities for hands-on learning. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and professional development.

Stay Updated on Industry Trends: Stay informed about current trends, research, and advancements in the field of occupational therapy. Attend conferences, seminars, and workshops to expand your knowledge and network with industry professionals. Staying updated on industry trends will not only enhance your education but also prepare you for your future career as an occupational therapist.
Will update some research papers and journal appraisals for you, here! :)
By incorporating these top tips into your daily routine, you can navigate through OT school with confidence and resilience.
